The post-mortem of Corporal Norazmi Abu Bakar, who died in a grenade-throwing explosion, will be conducted tonight at Sultanah Bahiyah Hospital

ALOR SETAR: The post-mortem examination of Corporal Norazmi Abu Bakar, a member of the 6th Battalion of the Royal Malay Regiment (6 RAMD) who died in an explosion during a grenade-throwing training at Hobart Camp in Gurun, will be conducted, yesterday.

This was confirmed by the deceased’s cousin, Sulaiman Mat Saad, 40, when met by reporters at the Forensic Department of Sultanah Bahiyah Hospital (HSB) here.

“I was informed that the post-mortem examination will commence after the identification process,” he said.

Sulaiman said the body will be taken to Masjid Al Busyra in Merbok, Sungai Petani, after the post-mortem examination and will be buried at the mosque’s cemetery.

Meanwhile, the body of another soldier, Private Siti Khadijah Sungip from the First Squadron of the Royal Engineers Regiment (1 RAJD), is expected to be transported to her hometown in Johor.

The Malaysian Army confirmed the fatal incident during the exercise, held as part of the RAJD Combat Enhancement training at about 10.57 am today.

Both were pronounced dead while being transported to Sultan Abdul Halim Hospital in Sungai Petani.

The bodies were later sent to HSB for post-mortem examinations.
