Kota Kinabalu: Electricity supply to Sabah’s East Coast has been fully restored after Sabah Electricity reconnected both 275kV transmission lines following a landslide that toppled power towers on Sept 13.
The second 275kV Kolopis-Segaliud transmission line was energised at 9.10pm on Sunday after crews installed an Emergency Restoration System tower, marking the completion of restoration works that began over a week ago.
The first transmission line had already been restored on Sept 17 at 8.10pm, initially reconnecting the East Coast to Sabah’s power grid and restoring electricity to affected areas.
Sabah Electricity Chief Executive Officer Datuk Mohd Yaakob Jaafar praised the dedication of technical teams who worked around the clock to restore power supply.
“Both transmission lines are now connected to Sabah’s grid system. I commend the extraordinary efforts of our technical teams and staff who worked tirelessly day and night to ensure the grid system could be restored,” he said Monday.
The successful restoration was achieved through close collaboration between the State Government, technical teams, contractors and other stakeholders.
The landslide on Sept 13 had disrupted power transmission to Sabah’s East Coast, affecting electricity supply to the area until the restoration works were completed Sunday evening.
