SIPITANG: The families of some 2,500 former Sabah Forest Industries Sdn Bhd (SFI) workers have been relying on car batteries, candles, solar and firewood since May 2 after Sabah Electricity Sdn Bhd (SESB) cut off supply to the SFI Complex around 3pm.
This also meant no access to piped water because the water pump depended on electricity.
It is understood that the workers are victims of an ongoing dispute among companies that wanted to take over SFI. It is understood that SESB disconnected supply due to arrears amounting to RM324,965.45.
