
On the fourth day of the 3rd All India Police Weightlifting Cluster 2026-27, at Haryana Police Academy, Madhuban, powerlifting, weightlifting and yoga competitions witnessed thrilling performances as players from across the country displayed remarkable strength, flexibility and stamina.
The championship featured competitions in weightlifting, powerlifting, yoga, where a large number of athletes from various state police forces and central armed police organisations participated.
As per the spokesperson, in women’s weightlifting in the 84 kg category, Haryana Police lifter Renu Devi clinched the gold medal with an impressive performance, while Sheelam Singh of Uttar Pradesh Police secured silver and Jaspal Kaur of Punjab Police settled for bronze.
The women’s 76 kg weightlifting event also witnessed intense competition, with Ashwini Bhonsiye of Maharashtra Police winning gold. Priyanka Shukla of Uttar Pradesh Police bagged silver, while Navdeep Kaur of Punjab Police claimed bronze.
In the men’s senior category weightlifting semifinals, Tosan Kumar Sahu of the BSF topped the tally to book his place in the final round. The yoga events also drew attention from spectators. In the senior men’s traditional yoga category, Leiton Das of the BSF secured the top position and confirmed his berth in the finals. In the women’s traditional yoga event, Priya of the ITBP emerged victorious to qualify for the final stage.
The powerlifting arena witnessed some interesting contests as Brijesh of Uttar Pradesh Police won gold in the men’s 94 kg category. Moidamni Kanta of the CISF secured silver, while Jagdeep Singh of the CRPF bagged bronze.
In the women’s 77 kg powerlifting category, Komal Khan of Uttar Pradesh Police delivered a dominant performance to win gold. Pooja Yadav of CISF won silver, while Lal Chhan Himi of the SSB took home the bronze medal.
Senior police officials, including IGP Haryana Armed Police (HAP) Om Prakash Narwal, encouraged the athletes.
