The notification regarding the Special Intensive Revision (SIR) of voter lists in the district has been issued. Under this exercise, Booth Level Officers (BLOs) will go door-to-door across Punjab from June 25 to July 24, to fill enumeration forms. This was disclosed by District Election Officer-cum-Deputy Commissioner, Tarn Taran, Rahul, during a press conference held at the District Administrative Complex today.
He said that for this exercise, 911 BLOs, 92 BLO supervisors, 4 Electoral Registration Officers, and eight Assistant Electoral Registration Officers have been deployed across 911 polling booths in Tarn Taran district. He added that there are currently 775,205 voters in the district, meaning each BLO will handle an average of about 850 voters for the SIR exercise.
Under SIR, 720,441 out of 775,205 voters in Tarn Taran district have been mapped with the 2003 voter list, which is about 93 per cent. He said that although it is mandatory for all voters to fill the form under SIR, the process will be easier for mapped voters.
He further stated that if any voter fails to fill the enumeration form under SIR, their name will not be included in the draft voter list, which will be published on July 31, 2026. Claims and objections will be accepted until August 30, and will be resolved by September 28. The final voter list will be published on October 1.
He said that the rationalisation of polling stations under SIR will be completed by July 24, ensuring that the number of voters at any polling station does not exceed 1,200.
Rahul said that all voters in the district must fill the SIR form. He added that the eligibility date for the special intensive revision has been fixed as January 1, 2003. He also said that, for the convenience of voters, current voter lists have been linked with the 2003 voter list, making it easier to trace records.
He informed that special training for BLOs has been arranged from June 15, 2026, to June 24, 2026. He also appealed to political parties to appoint Booth Level Agents (BLAs). To increase participation, BLAs have been allowed to submit voter forms.
He said voters can obtain information through the 1950 helpline and the Election Commission website and fill their forms accordingly. He added that the aim is to include every eligible citizen in the voter list while removing ineligible entries.
