President declares five local holidays

(UPDATE) PRESIDENT Ferdinand Marcos Jr. has declared special nonworking days in five localities to allow residents to celebrate their hometown’s founding anniversaries, fiestas and other cultural events.

The president issued Proclamation 1243, declaring May 18 a special nonworking day in Naga, Zamboanga Sibugay, and Proclamation 1244 also declaring May 15 a special nonworking day in Lazi, Siquijor, for the celebration of its annual fiesta and cultural event.

Meanwhile, Proclamation 1245 declared June 24 a special nonworking day in Jimenez, Misamis Occidental, for its fiesta celebration.

The president also issued Proclamation 1246, designating June 18 as a special nonworking day in Patnanungan, Quezon, to celebrate its founding anniversary.

On the other hand, Proclamation 1247 declared May 16 a special nonworking day in Ilog town in Negros Occidental as a celebration of its founding anniversary.

”It is but fitting and proper that the people be given full opportunity to participate in the occasion and enjoy the celebration,” Marcos said in authorizing the local holidays.

Proclamations 1243, 1244, 1245 and 1246 were signed by Acting Executive Secretary Ralph Recto, by the authority of the president, on May 12, while 1247 was signed on May 14.
