THE principal suspect in the murder of Suri Narudin appeared in the Magistrate’s Court today to face charges of killing the 53-year-old woman, whose body was discovered inside a bag at Kampung Batu 4, Pedas, on 18 December.
Zainizan Zainal, 51, merely nodded in acknowledgement when the charges were read before Magistrate Mohamad Redza Azhar Rezali. No plea was recorded as the case falls under the jurisdiction of the High Court.
According to the charge sheet, Zainizan is accused of murdering Suri Narudin at the rear of a house in Rembau between 7 and 18 December.
The prosecution, led by Deputy Public Prosecutor Nurul Balkis Zunaidi, requested a new hearing date to obtain the complete autopsy report and applied for the suspect to be denied bail. Zainizan appeared in court unrepresented by legal counsel.
The court scheduled the next mention of the case for 27 January, pending the submission of forensic and autopsy reports.
The charge was filed under Section 302 of the Penal Code, which carries a mandatory death sentence or imprisonment of not less than 30 years but not exceeding 40 years, with at least 12 strokes of the cane if the death penalty is not imposed.

Zainizan arrived at the court precincts at approximately 8.25 am, escorted by the Royal Malaysia Police (PDRM) and Criminal Investigation Department officers.
Police had earlier discovered the victim’s body buried in an unoccupied house at Batu 4, Pedas. Prior to the discovery, the Ampang District Police had appealed to the public for assistance in locating Suri Narudin, who was reported missing on 8 December.
Datuk Alzafny Ahmad, Negeri Sembilan Police Chief, confirmed that the remains belonged to Suri Narudin following fingerprint analysis matched with records from the National Registration Department (JPN). DNA testing conducted by the Chemistry Department further verified close familial relations to samples analysed.
In the wake of the discovery, police arrested two men in Melaka and Genting Sempah within 24 hours, one of whom is believed to be the primary suspect with personal knowledge of the victim.
Suri Narudin was laid to rest at Kampung Air Hitam Islamic Cemetery in Chembong at approximately 8.15 pm last Wednesday. - December 26, 2025
