Prince Archie and Princess Lilibet are very excited to be reunited with their grandfather, according to a source close to Prince Harry and Meghan Markle.

Harry is set to return to the United Kingdom for a five-day trip beginning on 7 July and concluding on 11 July.

The Duke of Sussex, who is 41, will travel without Meghan and their two children accompanying him to London.

During his visit, Harry plans to travel to Birmingham to mark the one-year countdown to the Invictus Games.

While Meghan, Archie and Lilibet will not be present in London, plans for the remainder of the week have yet to be finalised.

According to Hello, the children are "very excited" about the possibility of seeing their grandfather during the trip.

A friend of the Sussexes told the publication: "The truth is they (Archie and Lilibet) don't really have any concept about who they (the Royal Family) are, their parents are very good at keeping them away from it all so they live as normal little kids."

For the children, any encounter with King Charles would simply be a visit with their grandfather rather than an audience with the monarch.

The Sussex children last visited Britain in 2022 when they attended the late Queen's Platinum Jubilee celebrations.

King Charles has been eager to reunite with his grandchildren from the Sussex side for some time.

Archie was born in the UK in 2019, whilst his parents were still working members of the Royal Family, giving him early exposure to his relatives.

Lilibet, by contrast, was born in California in June 2021 after Harry and Meghan had stepped away from their roles within the monarchy.

The 2022 trip remains the sole confirmed occasion when Lilibet has met her grandfather face-to-face.

Harry's most recent meeting with his father took place last September during a brief reunion at Clarence House, which occurred during one of the Duke's charity-related visits to Britain.

The Duke of Sussex maintains contact with King Charles despite the distance between them.

Whether Meghan, Archie and Lilibet will travel to join Harry outside the capital has not been formally decided.

The possibility remains open that the children could meet their grandfather somewhere beyond London during the Duke's stay, though confirmation is still pending.
