Prince Harry latest: Meghan Markle brings Archie and Lilibet to UK for reunion with King Charles

Meghan Markle has brought her children Archie and Lilibet to the UK for a reunion with the King.

Charles welcomed Meghan and Harry’s children to his Highgrove residence during the afternoon after days of speculation over whether the family meeting would take place.

Archie, seven, and Lilibet, five, last saw their grandfather in person during Queen Elizabeth II’s Platinum Jubilee celebrations in 2022.

It is understood the Queen who has a private home near to the King’s Gloucestershire property was also among the group.

Harry arrived in London on Monday without his family after they pulled out of the visit to the capital because of security concerns, dashing hopes of a long-awaited reunion for the King and his grandchildren.

The children were not expected to attend any public events but Meghan had been scheduled to join her husband at the Invictus one-year-to-go event at the National Exhibition Centre (NEC) in Birmingham on Friday.

Harry has faced a protracted legal battle with the Home Office over the security arrangements for him and his family when in the UK after his level of protection changed when he stepped down as a working royal in 2020.

Prince Harry and six other household names have lost their high-profile case against the publisher of the Daily Mail.

During a 11-week trial, the group, which included Sir Elton John and Baroness Doreen Lawrence,” alleged unlawful information gathering by Asscoiated Newspaper Limited (ANL), from landline tapping to obtaining information through deception, which, they said, had left them feeling “violation”, “profound betrayal” and “shock and horror”.

But on Tuesday, their claims, strongly denied by ANL, were dismissed in a High Court ruling.

ICYMI: Prince Harry says he is 'proud' of Meghan and kids at Invictus Games

The Duke of Sussex told This Morning and Great British Bake Off presenter Alison Hammond that his children loved her work on the television baking competition.

Harry spoke to Hammond in Birmingham, her home city, as he launched the one-year countdown to his Invictus Games at the city’s National Exhibition Centre (NEC).

During his interview with Hammond on ITV’s This Morning, Harry told her: “By the way my kids loved you in the Bake Off – absolutely love it. I love it as well.”

After Harry spoke about the Invictus Games, Hammond said: “Your kids and Meghan must be so proud of you. Do they tell you every day?”

Harry replied: “They don’t tell me every day that they’re proud of me but yeah, I’m proud of them, they’re proud of me, I love my family.”

The Duchess of Sussex was not at Friday’s launch event but is widely expected to travel to the UK with their children Prince Archie, seven, and five-year-old Princess Lilibet in the coming days.

ICYMI: Invictus Games is about 'overcoming adversity,' Duke says

19:52 , Joe Middleton

Asked why the Invictus Games had “captured people’s hearts”, Prince Harry said it was because it was “literally overcoming adversity”.

“I think that no matter who you are, where you are, whatever you’ve come up against, you can see those guys,” said Harry.

“One leg, no legs, no arm, whatever that’s going on – with invisible injuries as well – there’s just a huge amount of respect, hope and also admiration and inspiration.

“Because no matter who you are, whether you’ve been lying on the couch with a broken back or whatever injury or illness that you’ve had, you look at these guys and go ‘well if they can do it I can bloody well do it as well’.”

He continued: “I think that’s the mentality.

“For all the military training… there’s resilience in every single one of us.

“I think when you’re really up against it how you decide to use that trauma, that experience or that loss, how you use that to really grow that resilience in yourself, I think that’s what people can connect to and now more than ever we need to grow the national resilience here in the UK but also around the world.”

A sign of thawing relations between Harry and Charles?

19:30 , Joe Middleton

The meeting between Charles and the young prince and princess is likely to be interpreted as a sign of the thawing of the relationship between the King and his son Harry.

The pair were estranged for some time especially after Harry criticised his father, stepmother Camilla, brother the Prince of Wales and sister-in-law Kate in his Oprah interview, Netflix documentary, interviews and his autobiography Spare, after stepping down from the working monarchy six years ago.

His rift with William is ongoing and shows no sign of abating and the family reunion took place during the same afternoon William was playing in a charity polo match at Windsor.

New photographs show the Princess of Wales being embraced by her family at the foot of Snowdon, marking the culmination of her Three Peaks Challenge.

In a surprising feat of endurance, Kate undertook the gruelling challenge last weekend, aiming to raise funds for a cancer charity and "explore life beyond diagnosis".

The future queen scaled the highest mountains in Scotland, England and Wales – Ben Nevis, Scafell Pike and Snowdon – within 24 hours, starting Saturday evening.

Harry’s wheelchair rugby skills impress as Invictus Games countdown begins

The Duke of Sussex was the wheelchair rugby king during a victorious exhibition match as rumours persisted of a UK appearance by his wife and children.

Harry was in his element rushing around the court, crashing into opponents with glee and scoring tries as he launched the one-year countdown to his Invictus Games at the National Exhibition Centre (NEC) in Birmingham.

During the wheelchair rugby match, Harry threw a blind pass over his head straight into the arms of a teammate, who crossed the try-line, a move praised by TV presenter Ade Adepitan who won a bronze with the GB basketball team at the 2004 Paralympics.

The broadcaster, who played on Harry’s team which ran out 7-1 winners, said: “He did a no-look pass. Did you see it? A no-look pass over his head.

“I mean, he said to me at the end ‘it was just a throw and hope’ but I said ‘style it out, style it out,’ that was done on purpose.”

The Middleton masterstroke: How Kate showed Harry and Meghan what a real family looks like

As far as family portraits go, the latest one from the Middletons is a blinder. Wholesome nature backdrop? Check. Cute pet? Check. And – here’s the crucial bit – smiles that actually reach their eyes? A prevailing vibe that they might actually, whisper it, like each other? Check.

The group snap in question was released as part of a fresh drop of images (cooler people than me might call it a photo “dump”, but that doesn’t feel very regal) celebrating the Princess of Wales completing the Three Peaks challenge to raise money for the Royal Marsden Cancer Charity.

‘From a certainty to a question mark’: Why Meghan’s off-again on-again UK trip is (probably) back on

14:03 , Maryam Zakir-Hussain

As the old saying that the only thing worse than being talked about is not being talked about, says Kat Brown:

Are we all keeping up with the whereabouts of the Sussexes? First, Meghan was coming to the UK. Then she absolutely was not, and nor were the children. Then, on Thursday, the Telegraph broke the urgent news that yes, she absolutely was coming over, and the children, but nobody was going to see them because they would be confined to a small box and only brought out for special family occasions. Something like that, anyway.

This visit, if it does come off, will be the first time the Sussexes have all been in the UK since the Platinum Jubilee celebrations in 2022. Harry had previously seen his father in September 2025 for a private – and short – visit at Clarence House.

After Harry’s Buckingham Palace bust-up, I fear the King will never see his grandchildren again

11:53 , Maryam Zakir-Hussain

For a royal couple best known for maintaining an iron grip on their sunny public profile, do I detect a little disquiet in Sussexland?

Prince Harry is making his way from America’s west coast to the UK for a five-day visit on his own. He had initially wanted his wife, Meghan, and their two children, Archie and Lilibet, to accompany him on what is first and foremost a promotional trip for next year’s Invictus Games – but also so they could be reunited with their grandfather, whom they last saw four years ago, before King Charles underwent gruelling treatment for cancer.

Prince Harry plays pickleball as rumours swirl around his family’s arrival in the UK

The Duke of Sussex tried his hand at pickleball, a new Invictus Games sport, during demonstration matches held at Birmingham's National Exhibition Centre (NEC) on Friday.

The event marked one year until the tournament, for wounded, injured and sick military service personnel, begins.

Notably absent was the Duchess of Sussex, who had been expected to attend but did not travel to the UK with Prince Harry earlier this week, citing security concerns.

However, Meghan is widely anticipated to arrive in the coming days with the couple’s children, Prince Archie and Princess Lilibet.

Daily Mail v Prince Harry: The failed claims brought by the duke and other stars

09:51 , Maryam Zakir-Hussain

The Duke of Sussex and six other prominent public figures have lost a major court case accusing the publisher of the Daily Mail of unlawful information gathering.

The claimants, which included Sir Elton John and Baroness Doreen Lawrence, had alleged Associated Newspapers Limited (ANL) carried out or commissioned unlawful activities such as landline tapping, hiring private investigators to place listening devices inside cars or “blagging” private records.

ANL strongly denied the claims in a high-profile 45-day High Court trial, where Harry and the other celebrity claimants gave evidence.

Meghan ‘to bring Archie and Lilibet to join Prince Harry in the UK’

Speculation is mounting that the Duchess of Sussex and her children could be reunited with King Charles during Prince Harry's week-long UK trip, as he launches the one-year countdown to the Invictus Games.

Harry initially arrived in London on Monday without his family, who had pulled out of the visit due to security concerns. However, it now appears these safety worries may have been mitigated.

Prince Harry visits Birmingham Children's Hospital during UK visit

The Duke of Sussex caused excitement among the nurses at Birmingham Children’s Hospital where he spoke about the “financial difficulties” facing the NHS.

One female medic received a hug while families asked for pictures and he posed for a group shot with around a dozen nurses, telling them: “Thank you for everything you do.”

In a speech to mark the 20-year milestone, the duke told a room of WellChild executives, nurses and families who they help: “I don’t know if you hear it enough, the difference that you make every single day is quite literally changing daily lives.”

He said: “I understand, and we understand that becomes harder every week with cuts and financial difficulties…just the insanity that that seems to be circulating, not just in this country but in general.

“But hospitals like this don’t run without people like you, and families like this can’t be families that they want to be at home without the expertise and the skill set that you’re handing over to them and WellChild is right at the centre of that.”

The Duke's history of legal battles with the Home Office over family's security

09:02 , Maryam Zakir-Hussain

Prince Harry has faced a protracted legal battle with the Home Office over the security arrangements for him and his family when in the UK after his level of protection changed when he stepped down as a working royal in 2020.

When the duke lost a Court of Appeal challenge against the Home Office last year, he gave a BBC interview in which he expressed hopes of a reconciliation with his family, revealing Charles would not speak to him because of his security court case.

Harry added: “I can’t see a world in which I would be bringing my wife and children back to the UK at this point and the things that they’re going to miss is, well, everything you know.”

The Duchess of Sussex and her children are rumoured to be joining the Duke in the UK this week in yet another twist in Prince Harry’s homecoming tour.

Harry arrived in London on Monday without his family after they pulled out of the visit to the capital because of security concerns.

It was reported last week that Harry was denied police protection for his family during their UK visit.

However, it appears worries around safety may have been mitigated.
