Prince William may be one of Aston Villa’s most passionate supporters, but it appears Princess Charlotte has decided to go in a very different direction.

While Prince George has regularly joined his father in backing Villa, William has now revealed that Charlotte instead supports another team.

The Prince of Wales made the admission during a visit to Cornwall shortly after watching Aston Villa’s dramatic Europa League victory in Istanbul.

William was visiting a sustainable housing development in Cornwall when he spoke with schoolchildren from Newquay’s Nansledan Primary School and younger children from the Naturally Learning Nursery.

The Prince of Wales was reportedly wearing sunglasses and apologising for losing his voice after Aston Villa’s emotional European success in Istanbul just hours earlier.

During the interaction, one child told William that she supported Chelsea, prompting the royal to respond: “My daughter loves Chelsea,” via Daily Mail.

Princess Charlotte’s support for Chelsea appears to mirror Kate Middleton’s reported football allegiance, with the Princess of Wales long linked to the London club.

That means Charlotte has seemingly chosen a different football path than both Prince William and Prince George, who are devoted Aston Villa supporters.

Prince William and Prince George are huge Aston Villa supporters

William’s love for Aston Villa has been well documented over the years, with the future king regularly attending both home and away matches.

The Prince of Wales has also taken Prince George and Princess Charlotte to Villa games previously, while Kate Middleton once revealed the children are allowed to stay up late to watch matches at home.

Despite Aston Villa being a somewhat surprising choice for a future king, William has supported the Birmingham-based club since his school days at Ludgrove.

Speaking to the BBC in 2015, William explained why he deliberately avoided choosing one of English football’s traditional giants.

“A long time ago at school I got into football big time. I was looking around for clubs. All my friends were either Man United fans or Chelsea fans and I didn’t want to follow the run-of-the-mill teams,” he said.

“I wanted to have a team that was more mid-table that could give me more emotional rollercoaster moments.”

Prince George has increasingly followed in William’s footsteps by supporting Villa, but it now appears Princess Charlotte has backed Chelsea instead.
