The Prince of Wales has revealed when he will "definitely" visit the United States.

Prince William's last official engagement in America dates back to September 2023, when he attended the second Earthshot Prize Innovation Summit in New York.

Earlier this year, the Princess of Wales resumed overseas engagements following her cancer diagnosis and recovery, undertaking a two-day visit to the Italian city of Reggio Emilia.

The trip prompted speculation that the couple could soon make a joint visit to the US, marking Catherine's first transatlantic journey since 2022.

William was also, unquestionably, keen to watch England as they played in the World Cup, being hosted in America, Mexico and Canada.

However, it was recently revealed that the prince is now "unlikely" to make the trip over, despite King Charles's successful diplomatic efforts in April, when he visited the US on a four-day trip - unless England make the competition's final.

Speaking to NFL stars Travis and Jason Kelce on the New Heights Podcast, William confirmed the news.

Host Travis asked the royal: "[If] they make they make it to the finals, you're gonna you're gonna make the trip across the pond?"

William was unequivocal in his response.

"Definitely – if we're in the finals," he replied without hesitation.

The prince then cheekily quipped: "Maybe see you both there for the final!"

And when the American pair objected due to other commitments, William insisted.

"Tell me who I need to write to, Travis. We'll get you out of there!" he joked.

England remain in contention to reach the World Cup final, after scraping past a robust and stern DR Congo in the round of 32 on Wednesday evening.

Goals from captain fantastic Harry Kane ensured the Three Lions did not go home in humiliating fashion. They now face co-hosts Mexico at the Azteca Stadium, located in Mexico City.

It is a stadium Mexico have played 89 matches in, losing just two. They have also never lost a World Cup game there in seven matches.

Despite the statistics favouring Mexico, William remains defiantly convinced England can go all the way.

"I'm just taking it calmly and quietly and like, come on, we're going to do well and see how we go. But I am quietly confident, I think," he told the Kelces.

The prince added that the team seem in a "really good frame of mind" and look to be "playing with more freedom, more fluidity".

If the side are to make it past Mexico in the early hours of Monday morning, they would then face the winner of Norway – and the wrath of a prolific Erling Haaland - and Brazil, the five-time winners.

It doesn't get much easier for Thomas Tuchel's side entering the semi-finals, either, with their most likely opponent being Lionel Messi's Argentina, looking to defend their title after their historic triumph in 2022.

So, if royal fans are to see William at the New York New Jersey Stadium on July 19, they will have to rally behind the Three Lions, who face a tricky pathway as they look to crown themselves champions of the world for the first time in 60 years.
