- The Prince of Wales has praised former rugby league captain Sir Kevin Sinfield, saying that he should have received a knighthood “years ago”.
- Sir Kevin was knighted by Prince William at Windsor Castle for his services to the motor neurone disease (MND) community and rugby.
- Prince William paid tribute to the campaigner, describing him as a machine, adding: “He’s a top bloke, really nice guy, good, honest, kind, decent northerner and I love that about Kevin, that there is no ego with him. He is what you get.”
- Sir Kevin's fundraising efforts have raised millions for charity following the diagnosis of his late Leeds Rhinos teammate Rob Burrow.
- Accepting the knighthood, Sir Kevin said he was humbled to receive the honour on behalf of the MND community and thanked the royal family for their support.
