  • Prince William, the Duke of Cornwall, visited Helston to mark St Piran’s Day and show support for communities recovering from the devastating Storm Goretti.
  • During his visit to the family-run Gear Farm Pasty Company, he attempted to make a traditional Cornish pasty, admitting it was “not easy” and joking that his wife would be better at it.
  • The Prince also took a phone order for pasties from a customer, Josie Trounson, who was unaware she was speaking to the heir to the throne until she arrived to collect her order.
  • The visit highlighted the severe impact of Storm Goretti in January, which brought 100mph winds, caused widespread power outages, blocked roads, and tragically resulted in one fatality.
  • William concluded his visit by delivering 50 freshly baked pasties from Gear Farm to Helston community fire station, thanking emergency services for their tireless work during the storm.
