Princess Kate makes donation to inspiring boy she met on Three Peaks Challenge

The Princess of Wales has made a personal donation to an 11-year-old wheelchair user she encountered during her recent Three Peaks Challenge, a gruelling endurance feat undertaken to raise money for a cancer charity.

Kate completed the challenge, which involved scaling the highest mountains in Scotland, England, and Wales, within 24 hours over the weekend.

The future queen embarked on the solo expedition, climbing Ben Nevis, Scafell Pike, and Snowdon, to "explore life beyond diagnosis" and support a vital cause.

During her ascent of Ben Nevis, she met Ted, an inspiring 11-year-old wheelchair user who was also tackling the formidable peak with the assistance of his family and friends.

Ted and his team were raising funds for Molly Olly’s Wishes, a charity dedicated to supporting children facing serious illnesses. Following their meeting, Kate made a donation to Ted’s JustGiving page on Monday, accompanied by a heartfelt message.

Her message read: "One of the real highlights of the Three Peaks Challenge was meeting inspiring people like you along the way. Huge congratulations to Ted, Pete and the entire team for raising money for such a wonderful cause."

The JustGiving page, established by Ted’s father, Pete Haslam, has already surpassed £11,000.

Its description highlights Ted’s remarkable spirit: "Ted is a wheelchair user—but that’s never been the thing that defines him. Determination does. This isn’t his first mountain. He has already taken on Snowdon not once, but twice, proving his resilience and spirit. Last year, he stood proudly at the summit of Ben Nevis, the tallest mountain in the UK. Each climb has been a step – quite literally – toward something bigger than himself."

The Princess of Wales was supported by Mountain Rescue throughout her challenge and was greeted at the finish line by the Prince of Wales, their children Prince George, Princess Charlotte, and Prince Louis, along with her parents Carole and Michael Middleton, and brother James Middleton.

Kensington Palace believes this marks a royal first, with the princess being the first member of the Royal Family to complete the Three Peaks Challenge.
