MANILA, Philippines — Alex Eala drew widespread praise for her elegant appearance on the red carpet of the Laureus World Sports Awards held recently in Madrid.
Several WTA players even named Eala as one of the best dressed of the night. On The Player’s Box podcast, former Australian Open champion Madison Keys, along with Jessica Pegula, Desirae Krawczyk, and Jennifer Brady, commended Eala’s striking presence.
Pegula even described Eala as a “princess of the Philippines.”
“She looked like the princess of the Philippines,” Pegula said.
Keys also expressed admiration, saying: “Alex Eala looked so good.”
Eala walked the red carpet wearing a Filipiniana dress designed by her uncle, Rhett Eala, who is well known for dressing beauty queens.
Rhett previously created the evening gown of Maxine Medina during the Miss Universe 2016, where Medina finished in the Top 6.
Eala also received praise from fans and fellow WTA players such as Zeynep Sonmez, Eva Lys, Iva Jovic, Coco Gauff, and Victoria Mboko.
Krawczyk highlighted the effort behind the outfit, saying:
“Alex Eala looks so good. Her uncle made that dress for her in two days. They literally designed it.”
Krawczyk, who has Filipino roots through her mother, is no stranger to the Philippines. She previously competed in the country in 2010, winning the women’s singles title at the PCA Open held in Paco, Manila. TMT
