PUTRAJAYA - Production company MIG Production House (MIG) has apologised to all parties following the controversy sparked by the drama Madu atau Racun.
In a statement posted on social media, MIG said it had taken note of the issue currently going viral, adding that a scene in the drama was seen as excessive for general viewing to the point of touching on religious and societal sensitivities.
"To all viewers, fans and all parties who have given their support to the drama Madu atau Racun.
"We have taken note of the issue currently going viral which has touched on religious and societal sensitivities through a scene seen as rather excessive for general viewing," the statement read.
MIG, however, stressed it had no intention of touching on or belittling any party through the work and denied the controversy was deliberately sparked.
"We wish to stress that we had absolutely no intention of touching on, belittling or deliberately stirring up any controversy.
"We apologise and respect the views of all parties, and will improve our future work, taking this criticism as a major lesson," it said.
The controversy erupted after several scenes were alleged to have touched on religious and societal sensitivities, including an element of same-sex romance that drew attention on social media.
The development came as authorities and industry bodies reviewed the drama's content, with a meeting involving Finas, MIG representatives, iQIYI, CMCF, the Malaysian Film Producers Association (PFM), the Malaysian Television Association (PTVM) and the Department of Islamic Development Malaysia (Jakim) held to discuss the matter.
