
- Jessica Morden, a prominent Labour MP and chair of the Parliamentary Labour Party, has been appointed a Dame in the King’s Birthday Honours.
- Dame Jessica, who has represented Newport East for two decades, was recognised for her 35 years of work in the Labour Party, much of it behind the scenes.
- Former Conservative MPs David Gauke and Greg Hands were also awarded knighthoods in this year's honours list.
- Sir David Gauke received his knighthood for his work on the independent sentencing review, which proposed reforms to the justice system to address prison capacity issues.
- Former Labour minister, author, and political diarist Chris Mullin was also knighted, acknowledging his contributions as an MP and journalist.
