  • Emmerdale star Lisa Riley has been appointed a Member of the Order of the British Empire (MBE) in the King’s Birthday Honours.
  • She is recognised for her extensive services to drama and to charity, describing the honour as her "best 50th birthday present" ahead of her 50th birthday on 13 July.
  • Riley, best known for her role as Mandy Dingle, stated she is the first Emmerdale cast member to have been awarded an MBE.
