
MANILA, Philippines — The prosecution team in the impeachment trial of Vice President Sara Duterte filed a request for a subpoena pertaining to "an expanded list of documents of the" Bureau of Internal Revenue (BIR), Batangas 2nd District Rep. Gerville Luistro said.
The documents include the Income Tax Returns (ITRs) earlier sought by the House Committee on Justice.
Batangas 2nd District Rep. Gerville Luistro, lead prosecutor, said in Filipino and English in a press conference on Monday, "I understand that this time around, all the ITRs and BIR records pertaining to the respondent, the husband" and certain companies.
"Because we need that to be able to support the articles of impeachment. Of course, when we are presenting the case, we want to present the clear picture, the complete picture," Luistro said, explaining the decision to seek more documents from the BIR.
