TAMBUNAN: Tambunan’s Beriud Boxing Club achieved a proud milestone by being the sole representative from Tambunan competing in the 2nd Edition National Talent and Youth Boxing Championship and International Invitational 2026.
The prestigious tournament set to take place at the MUC Hall in Sibu, serves as a crucial platform to test the capabilities and to highlight young talents on both national and international stages.
This edition’s participation features fierce competition, bringing together young boxers from three countries: Malaysia, Indonesia and Singapore.
Shouldering Sabah’s challenge, the Beriud Boxing Tambunan team, led by Club Chairman Marcel Aegidius has listed six high-potential boxers, five of whom are students from St Martin Secondary School, Tambunan.
For the Women’s Under-15 category, the club’s hopes rest on Marianne Marcellius competing in the 50-kilogramme category, Chelsie Reachel Ginadus in the 54kg category and Nur Sharline Azman in the 63kg category. Meanwhile, the Men’s Under-15 competition sees Daevison Victor carrying the challenge in the 54kg category.
The Tambunan squad further strengthens its campaign in the older age categories, represented by Glay Oslay Ryan in the Men’s Under-17 (57kg) category and Immenouwel Junas competing in the Men’s Under-19 (51kg) category.
The presence of these young boxers demonstrates the continuous commitment of the Beriud Boxing Club Tambunan in building the grassroots foundation of local boxing and developing competitive athletes.
