PSC supports search for junior golf heroes

The Philippine Sports Commission (PSC) joins hands with the Pike Braga Sports Foubdation and Development in hosting the FCG Callaway Junior World Qualifier set from March 26 to 28 at the Eagle Ridge Golf & Country Club in General Trias City, Cavite.

The  54-hole tournament, sanctioned by the National Golf Assocuation of the Philippines (NGAP), will determine the Philippine representatives for the 18th annual FCG Callaway World Championship scheduled from July 13 to 15 in California with 12 boys'  and 10 girls' slots in four different age groups at stake for participants.

The boys' age groups will be 15 to 18, 13 to 14, 11 to 12, and 9 to 10 with 3 slots open in each division while the girls' side features tge same except in the 9 to 10 group with only one slot available for the top golfers.

The PSC is supporting the event as it is aligned with the agency's mandate to search and identify young athletes  who can be future sports heroes.

In 2024, Bobe Salahog, a caddy's son from Victoria's, Negros Occidental, won the  world championship in the 15 to 18 group , scoring a 13 under in 3 days' competition in Pal Spring, California.

The local organizing committee will be headed by Boy Blue Ocampo, GM of the Eagle Rudge Golf and Country Club, he will serve as the authorized tournament director. 

"We will continue our mission of providing the Filipino youth opportunities like this todevelop, compete, abd excel in sports,  locally and internationally, for junior golfers wishing to join, they may call Eagle Rudge at 0917 5291809," said Braga.
