PSG coach Luis Enrique dismisses rumours of player contract talks as ‘fake news’ aimed at destabilising the club, ahead of French Cup clash

PARIS Saint-Germain coach Luis Enrique has dismissed rumours surrounding player contract talks as “fake news” designed to undermine the club.

Speaking at a press conference on Sunday, Luis Enrique stated that external forces are attempting to destabilise the team. “Right now, people are trying to destabilise us from the outside with fake news,” he said.

The coach confirmed that contract negotiations are a normal, private process for the club. “It’s normal to have negotiations…But it’s private and it will remain private,” he added.

Luis Enrique emphasised the club’s internal clarity and calmness regarding its plans. “We know what we want, that’s the most important thing. In that sense, we’re calm,” the Spaniard stated.

According to sources close to the talks, PSG have begun extension discussions with several players, including Ballon d’Or winner Ousmane Dembele and Bradley Barcola. Both players’ contracts expire in June.

One source noted that such discussions require significant consideration from all parties involved every year.

Luis Enrique was speaking ahead of Monday’s French Cup clash with city rivals Paris FC. Dembele scored in PSG’s victory over Paris FC in a league derby last weekend.
