Paris Saint-Germain made an emphatic statement in their bid for a third consecutive Champions League as they inflicted Barcelona their first defeat of the season in a thrilling 4-2 win.
The holders took a deserved lead through a wonderful Desire Doue strike but were pegged back after the break, with 19-year-old Xavi Espart drawing Barca level in the 55th minute.
Having been denied by Joan Garcia’s goalkeeping heroics on numerous occasions, PSG finally got a second through Lucas Hernandez’s header to restore their lead, only to succumb to a brilliant Lamine Yamal leveller with 11 minutes to go.
Parity would only last two minutes for Barca, however, with Vitinha firing home on the bounce to give PSG the advantage for the third time, one they would this time hold on to as Fabian Ruiz tapped in a fourth in the closing stages to seal the victory.
