PSV Eindhoven winger Cody Gakpo has revisited missing out on a move to Manchester United last summer.
Gakpo has admitted he expected to sign for United, but the move eventually fell through.
He recalled to The Times: "I was close to changing when I spoke to Erik ten Hag a few times at Manchester United. In the end, the deal didn't go through, which was a shame for me and my development.
"Manchester United is one of the biggest clubs in the world, but it was also a shame for PSV, because it is a good thing for the club to sell a player to Manchester United.
"It ended about a week before the end of the transfer window, and in that week I had to decide whether I wanted to go to Leeds or Southampton.
"In the end I stayed, but it was a stressful period."
