The Manchester Evening News says Ten Hag is pushing United to try again for De Jong in January.
Ten Hag is arguing neither Casemiro nor Christian Eriksen fulfil the role he has earmarked for De Jong in midfield.
With the player still struggling for minutes this season, Ten Hag believes he can now convince the Dutchman about moving to United over the New Year.
