PTPTN explained that the advance is available to Malaysian students who selected the option during their admission application to public higher education institutions via UPUOnline or through the university admission portal.

Additional Eligibility Requirements

To qualify, the parents or guardians of the student must also be recipients of the Sumbangan Tunai Rahmah (STR) and meet PTPTN’s eligibility criteria.

In Penang, 1,380 students have been offered the advance, totalling RM2.07 million. This includes 88 students in Bukit Gelugor, who collectively received RM132,000.

PTPTN chairman Datuk Seri Norliza Abdul Rahim expressed hope that the assistance would ease students’ entry into higher education and contribute to the production of graduates who can drive national development.

Applying For PTPTN Loans

Beyond the advance, students may apply for PTPTN education loans online through the myPTPTN application, following the application dates set by each university and polytechnic. This ensures timely processing and approval of loan applications.

Applicants must have a National Education Savings Scheme (Simpan SSPN) account, which can also be opened directly via the myPTPTN application.
