A recent video has gone viral after several motorcycles were reportedly involved in a multi-bike accident on the Federal Highway.
The video showed several motorcyclists allegedly falling while riding along a wet, green-coloured pathway of the motorcycle lane.
Public works department says lane should’ve used anti-slip material
The Public Works Department (JKR) has launched an investigation into a viral video showing several motorcycles involved in an accident, following claims that the crash was caused by slippery paint material on the road.
Works Minister Datuk Seri Alexander Nanta Linggi said the road surface at the location should have been made using anti-slip material, according to Berita Harian.
However, he said there were several factors that could have contributed to the accident, noting that the road was reportedly wet at the time due to light rain.
“There are several factors that could have contributed to the accident. It may not have been entirely caused by the road surface. The actual cause of the incident is still under investigation.
“We do not know whether they were travelling at a relatively high speed or if traffic was congested at the time. We are still investigating what exactly contributed to the accident,” he said.
Nanta said JKR had inspected the location and is currently investigating the matter, adding that immediate action would be taken to make the necessary improvements.
He also expressed his sympathy to those involved, especially those who were injured in the accident, and said JKR would learn from the incident.
