I am grateful with the 1.8k readers viewing, and particularly @bendiv, @koko & @Mikemike who set aside time writing their feedback on my story title “The theme ‘Malaysia MADANI: Shared Prosperity (Kesejahteraan Dinikmati)’ for 2026 HK&HM celebrations” as published by newswav.com dated on 16 August. I agree with them that our government has more work to do. We can't be satisfied with the status quo - not by a long shot. Too many people are living paycheck-to-paycheck, working longer shifts, and taking second and even third jobs just to make ends meet. Too many young people can't even buy a first home, start their own business, or even get married because they are weighed down by thousands of ringgit of student debt and high cost of living.

I understand from a random research by members of Sejahtera Leadership Initiative (SLI), many of the wealthiest & big corporations, including the huge GLCs & GLICs are gaming the system. The super-rich are skipping out on paying their fair share of taxes and too many companies are fast shipping jobs overseas to boost profits in the next quarter rather than investing in their workers so they stay profitable for the next decade. Our policies have not kept up with the big changes in the way Malaysian families currently live, learn & work. We are asking families to rely on an old system of support in a new economic reality. The government can and will fix these problems. Actually, no country is better positioned to thrive in today's global economy. I know Malaysia has the most innovative, enterprising private sector and the most skillful and talented workers anywhere in the region. While corporate profits are at near-record highs, paychecks for most people have barely budged. Corporate & bank top executives are making millions while working families are barely scraping by.
