Kota Kinabalu: Gabungan Rakyat Sabah (GRS) Youth Chief Jonnybone J Kurum said Party Warisan President Datuk Seri Mohd Shafie Apdal is incorrect in saying that Datuk Seri Hajiji Noor is without a political party.
“He should put up or shut up unless he (Shafie) is prepared to go to court,” said the Telupid Assemblyman in a statement.
Jonnybone said this in response to Shafie who cited Article 6(3) read with Article 6(7) of the Sabah State Constitution while calling for Chief Minister Datuk Seri Hajiji Noor to do the responsible thing by resigning.
“Article 6.1(i) of the GRS constitution allows for individuals to become direct members of GRS of which Hajiji, among others, is one,” said Jonnybone.
“Now that Datuk Seri Dr Joachim Gunsalam and Datuk Seri Masidi Manjun have schooled Shafie in how the Sabah Constitution works, I say that if Shafie insists that the Tun Yang Terutama and Hajiji are in breach of the law and the Sabah Constitution, then I challenge him to take action and bring the matter to court,” said Jonnybone.
He said both Dr Joachim and Masidi have made clear that after Hajiji was constitutionally sworn in as Chief Minister in 2020, Article 6(7) no longer applies.
“Article 6(7) will only apply after the next Sabah State Elections. So unless Shafie is prepared to go to court, I say he should put up or shut up,” said Jonnybone.
“Today, Hajiji enjoys the confidence and support of the majority of assemblymen in the Sabah State Assembly and continues to serve as the Chief Minister of Sabah,” he added.
