MANILA, Philippines — As Galeries Tower Highrisers bid farewell to its core players and champion team, Petro Gazz Angels, pausing the Premier Volleyball League (PVL) — rumors loom that Galeries will obtain most of Petro Gazz’s players.

In a statement, Petro Gazz confirmed its leave of absence from the league.

“Petro Gazz announces its decision to take a leave of absence from the Premier Volleyball League (PVL), marking a pause in its competitive participation after seven successful years," said.

“This decision was made with careful consideration, as volleyball has always been at the core of Petro Gazz's identity. Over the years, the team built a legacy of excellence—winning four PVL championships, developing national team-caliber athletes, and establishing itself as one of the league's pillars,” it added.

Galeries, meanwhile, expressed its gratitude in a post, thanking head coach Godfrey Okumu and the coaching staff.

The Highrisers' core players of Dodee Batindaan, Juliet Catindig, Fen Emnas Carly Hernandez, Ysa Jimenez, Andrea Marzan, Dimdim Pacres, Audrey Paran, Franz Ronquillo, Lia Pelaga, Ivy Perez, Marian Andal, and Shannen Palec also departed with the team.

If Galeries takes the opportunity to take the players of the second-winningest club in the PVL, they will obtain unsigned, formidable players: Brooke Van Sickle, Myla Pablo, and Jonah Sabete.

Same with Strong Group Athletics (SGA), the franchise binged out on most of Chery Tiggo’s players after its disbandment.

SGA signed former Chery Tiggo’s assistant coach Kung Fu Reyes and took Mylene Paat, Imee Hernandez, and Ara Galang.

Two Petro Gazz players are also under SGA: Remy Palma (assistant playing coach), and Chie Saet (libero).

As of the moment, Galeries has not yet announced any new signed players but has kept Julia Coronel, Winnie Bedaña, Rosel Baliton, and Jean Asis on its lineup.
