The Qatar royal family do not believe they will face any government opposition regarding their possible takeover of Manchester United.

There was a report in Bloomberg on Tuesday that government officials had privately flagged concerns regarding the true wealth of the bid's frontman - Sheikh Jassim bin Hamad Al Thani.

However, The Mail states that those involved with the bid say they have no cause for concern.

US merchant bankers Raine Group are in charge of the bidding and eventual sale process.

The other bidder at present is Sir Jim Ratcliffe - a lifelong United fan and the owner of INEOS.

The report adds that many in government would welcome the Qatar bid, provided they also invest in the community.
