MANILA, Philippines — The Quezon City Police District (QCPD) announced on Sunday the arrest of a police officer who allegedly ordered the killing of his wife, also a police officer, and their eight-year-old son.

The two were reported missing on January 16, 2026.

Arrested on Feb. 1 was Senior Master Sergeant John Mollenido, the husband of slain Senior Master Sergeant Diane Marie Mollenido, 38, who was assigned to the Personnel and Records Management Division of the National Capital Region Police Office.

Police arrested John Mollenido after a couple, a car agent identified as Pia Chua Panganiban, 29, who was the policewoman’s godchild, and Christian Suarez Panganiban, a dismissed lawman, pointed to him as the person who ordered them to commit the crime.

Police investigation indicated that the killers covered the sofa with plastic when Mollenido was shot in the head. They used a plastic bag to suffocate the boy.

According to the police, the victims' bodies were loaded onto a sport utility vehicle (SUV), with Mollenido's body dumped in Pulilan, Bulacan. Her son's remains were brought to a farm in Victoria, Tarlac.

On Friday, the couple and a rider named Gil Valdemoro Dy Jr. were arrested by QCPD operatives in Novaliches, Quezon City.

Initial investigation showed that policemen recovered from the couple’s residence the victim's cellular phone, P100,000 cash, and identification cards.
