Over at MWC 2026, aside from the various new SoCs that Qualcomm will be shipping in the near future, they also set up a special demo in partnership with Siemens that demonstrated how an autonomous factory utilizes on-prem intelligence with AI and industrial 5G to deliver next-gen edge solutions in manufacturing.
The live demo showed an Automated Guided Vehicle connected over a Siemens private Industrial 5G network to transport materials across the factory model, while a robotic arm handled assembly and communicated directly with both the AGV and other production cells.
On top of that, an AI agent ran locally on Siemens IPC hardware equipped with the Qualcomm Cloud AI 100 Accelerator Card, analyzing system states in real time to identify root causes and recommend corrective actions. Additional AI-driven workloads, including real-time process quality inspection and broader on-prem industrial intelligence, were also powered by it.
With modern factories moving towards distributed production cells and mobile robotics, they require even more complex and precise, secure, and locally-synced coordination.
Through this demo, Qualcomm and Siemens essentially proved that industrial-grade computing with high-performance edge AI goes with deterministic private 5G connectivity, and is ready to deploy into factories.
