MANILA, Philippines – A ranking Quezon City government official revealed that it rejected a new request by the Iglesia ni Cristo for a permit rally on Thursday.
Elmo San Diego, the city’s Department of Public Order and Safety (DPOS) chief, told The Manila Times via Viber interview that the city government decided not to issue another permit anymore "because of many complaints the Office of the Mayor has received."
The retired police general and former Quezon City Police District director declined to elaborate but said that the rally "is causing widespread inconvenience."
The INC rally called for transparency, accountability, justice, and peace following the announcement made by the Office of the Ombudsman that it was set to file a non-bailable plunder case against Sen. Rodante Marcoleta, a member, before the Sandiganbayan.
