Quick-Thinking M'sian Saves Young Boy Who Nearly Fell Into Fish Pond At Aquaria KLCC
He was supposed to spend Malaysia Day admiring marine life at Aquaria KLCC, but somehow fate decided to throw in a dash of excitement and panic too.

This comes after a young boy who was too cheeky for his own good nearly plunged into a fish pond, prompting him to quickly save the former from drowning.

Saw boy climbing into pond

Speaking to WeirdKaya, the man named Auni said he was at Aquaria KLCC with his family at 1pm yesterday (Sept 16) and was looking at fishes within a freshwater fish pond.

He added that out of the blue, a young boy came running towards the pond and started climbing into it.

“At first, I thought, ‘Okay, maybe he just wants to hang there for a bit.’ But then his leg suddenly went over the edge like he was trying to jump a fence.

“It happened right in front of me, so I didn’t even have time to think. I just grabbed his leg and pulled him back. Half his body was already in the water, and half of my shirt was soaked,” he said.

Auni later joked in a Threads post that he never expected to be “part of the ecosystem” and said he smelled like one of the fishes after saving the boy.

No word of thanks from boy’s parents

Auni told WeirdKaya that despite the harrowing encounter, the boy seemed unfazed by it and proceeded to run off and look for another pond to explore.

After a while, the boy’s parents appeared and took him away from the scene while laughing. Unfortunately, none of them thanked Auni for saving their son.

When asked whether he felt slighted by this, Auni said, “Honestly, no. I didn’t save the kid just to get a ‘thank you’. I was just worried because I saw what was happening right in front of me, and I reacted.

As long as the kid is safe, that’s already enough for me. Maybe the parents were just shocked or didn’t really realise how close he was to falling in.”

Auni also reminded parents to always keep an eye on their kids as they have boundless energy and “zero fear” at times.

“You can look away for 5 seconds and suddenly they’re on a side quest trying to climb something they shouldn’t.

“Enjoy your time with your kids, but keep them within your sight. Trust me, you don’t want a normal family outing to suddenly turn into a surprise episode of ‘Where’s My Kid?’” he joked.

Praised by netizens

Auni’s act of bravery won him praise from netizens, who commended him for acting quickly in saving the boy.

One even urged Aquaria KLCC to reward Auni with a free visit to its premise and a new t-shirt that got soaked in the incident.
