KENINGAU: Mohd Radzwan Madjain and Jeremy Geureh of IPG Keningau emerged champions in the novice men’s doubles at the Ken Hwa PIBG Pickleball Championship 2026, which brought together players from schools, government agencies and the wider community.
The pair secured the top spot ahead of Fredolin Amit and Mohd Sabri Abdullah, while Soon Ee Hung and Adiman Sairin, and Joshua Ho Chung Yung and Jayden Boey Hong Yi shared third place.
Interestingly, all four pairs in the novice men’s doubles were made up of teachers from SMJK Ken Hwa representing the Ken Hwa PIBG, highlighting the strong involvement of educators in the tournament and their commitment to maintaining an active lifestyle beyond their professional duties.
In the rookie men’s doubles, Januarius Joseph and Silveric Jounis emerged champions, with Jacklee Foh and Ryan Tan finishing runners-up. Musiri Orou and Muhd Shahrizan Dian Abdullah, together with Anthoneo Jay Jamison and Faizal Dawar, shared third place.
The novice women’s doubles title went to Dayang Musyirah Syazwani Musahini and Lennylia Layun John, followed by Kau See Pei and Chan Fui Lin in second place. Noorhena Mohd Natsir and Viviana Hander, and Prescilla Peter Anam and Fresilla Matius, shared third place.
Held on Monday (Aug 24), the championship attracted participation from a wide range of players, including primary and secondary school students, teachers, Anggota Kumpulan Pelaksana (AKP), government personnel and members of the local community.
Participating primary schools included SJKC Yuk Yin, SJKC Yuk Kong, SK Pasir Puteh, SK Luagan and SK SFX, while secondary schools represented were SMJK Ken Hwa, SMK Keningau 2, SMK Bingkor and SM SFX.
The tournament also saw participation from educators and support staff representing SMJK Ken Hwa, SMK Bingkor, SMK Keningau, SK Patikang Laut, SMK Kemabong, SMK Entabuan, SJKC Yuk Yin, SMK Gunsanad, IPG Keningau, PPD Keningau and PPD Tenom.
The involvement of the Department of Agriculture Tenom and retired Malaysian Armed Forces personnel further demonstrated the broad community support for the championship.
