
Kota Kinabalu: Mohd Rafiq Anugerah Ali and Puteri Haryaty Najwa clinched the division A titles at the Sabah Golf Association (SGA) Junior Tour Grand Final leg tournament held at Sabah Golf and Country Club on Sunday.
Rafiq scored a three-day total of 226 to claim the boys title ahead of second placed Alvern Shayne Hector (273) followed by Keen Damien Chai Key Yin (285) in third.
Puteri, who scored 256, also had a comfortable win over Angelina Hwong Hutchinson (264) and Janessa Psydellica (312) in the girls category.
In division B, the boys title went to Ryan Lam Ziang (246) with Dylan Zyden Darius (251) and Brandon Wong Yi (260) in second and third place respectivelly while the girls title was won by Jamie Tan Huan Ying (258) followed by Dynneva Joyce Donni (267) and Shannon Sim Xuan (287).
The top three winners in division C went to Muhd Dani Mikail Jimson (270), Aiqal Darwish (283), Sheldon Ng Yong Sheng (283) for the boys, and Nur Allyssa Sofea Razali (296), Thania Tamira Raq (335), Alyssa Chu Yan Yi (342) for the girls.
A total of 60 players qualified for the grand final organised by Sabah Golf Association (SGA) .
The five-leg tour started in March was one of SGA’s efforts to provide platform for the junior golfers in the State to gain exposure and experience.
Those participating were ranked and points given in each tour and they were then added to their credentials for recommendation to the State Sukma squad.
Meanwhile, Sabah Sports Council deputy director I Valerie Wong was present at the closing ceremony to give out the prizes.
