Rain Rave festival draws 30,000 on final night as police report smooth security with one arrest

A CROWD of approximately 30,000 people filled Bukit Bintang on the closing night of the Rain Rave Water Music Festival 2026, with authorities reporting that the large-scale event proceeded in an orderly and controlled manner throughout its three-day run.

Kuala Lumpur police chief Datuk Fadil Marsus said no untoward incidents were recorded during the festival, which began on Thursday, although one local woman was detained after being found in possession of a dangerous weapon.

“This woman was detained for further investigation, and we will seek a remand order against her tomorrow (Sunday). We are currently investigating her intention in carrying the knife.

“In addition, several preventive arrests involving suspicious individuals had to be carried out as a precaution to avoid any untoward incidents throughout the three days of the festival.

“Overall, what I can conclude is that this programme took place in a controlled situation without any undesirable incidents occurring,” he said after the event ended at midnight.

Despite the sizeable turnout on the final evening, Fadil noted that conditions at the venue remained well managed and under control.

“Some 500 police officers and personnel were deployed each night over the three-day period, involving the Kuala Lumpur contingent and all six districts under its administration, with additional support from Royal Malaysia Police headquarters.

“This deployment was quite substantial to ensure that public safety and order remained the top priority,” he said.

He also expressed appreciation to members of the public in the capital for their cooperation in ensuring the smooth running of the event, which was organised by Ministry of Tourism, Arts and Culture Malaysia and Tourism Malaysia. - May 3, 2026
