Rais Yatim arrives at court; expected to be charged under Sedition Act

FORMER Dewan Negara president Tan Sri Rais Yatim arrived at the Ayer Keroh Court Complex at 8:30 am today.

He is expected to be charged under the Sedition Act in connection with the Negeri Sembilan customary leadership crisis.

Arriving in his own vehicle, he was accompanied by his wife, Puan Seri Masnah Muhamat; his son—who is also the State Assemblyman (ADUN) for Klawang—Danni Rais; and a team of lawyers before entering Sessions Court 2.

He is expected to be charged under Section 4(1)(b) of the Sedition Act 1948, punishable under Subsection 4(1) of the same Act by a fine not exceeding RM5,000, imprisonment for a term not exceeding three years, or both.

Media reports yesterday, citing the e-Judiciary system, indicated that the 84-year-old figure was scheduled to be charged before Judge Raja Noor Adilla Raja Mahyaldin. – September 25, 2026
