The Rajasthan police on Friday, claimed to have recovered Indian-made foreign liquor (IMFL) cartons worth approximately Rs 75 lakh from a canter (mini truck), that was reportedly loaded in Chandigarh, to deliver the consignment in Gujarat. The truck driver, who belongs to Abohar, has been arrested.

Hanumangarh SP Narinder Singh Meena said that the liquor cartons had been hidden under sacks of green chilies in a Punjab-registered canter.

The arrested driver has been identified as Lakhwinder Singh, a resident of Balluana’s Dhani Thakar Singh village, near Abohar.

The police had set up a blockade near Lakhuwali on the Hanumangarh-Rawatsar Mega Highway.

The suspicious Punjab-registered canter was stopped. During the search, sacks filled with green chilies were found loaded in the truck.

Cartons of IMFL were found hidden underneath the sacks.

Police recovered a total of 612 cartons, including ‘Uncle Tom’, ‘Minty Jamun- flavoured vodka’, ‘All Season Reserve Whisky’, ‘Blue Stock Executive Whisky’, and ‘Jubilee Special’ whisky brands.

The police seized the canter along with the IMFL. A case has been registered against the accused.
