Government-Funded Coursera Access to Strengthen Digital and AI Skills

Through the government-funded Global Learning Pass, which is open to all Malaysians with a MyDigital ID, learners can access more than 16,000 courses and Professional Certificate programmes offered by leading universities and industry experts worldwide.

The pace of change underscores the need for continuous learning. The World Economic Forum’s Future of Jobs Report 2025 estimates that 41% of core skills in Malaysia are expected to change by 2030. This initiative forms part of the Rakyat Digital ecosystem and supports the Malaysia Digital 2030 Action Plan (MD2030) and National AI Action Plan 2026–2030.

Global Learning Pass Offers Three Months of Complimentary Access

Through the Global Learning Pass, Malaysians receive three months of complimentary access to Coursera, with courses spanning AI, technology, data science, business and digital literacy. Starting from 16 September 2026, 100,000 licenses are being rolled out in phases subject to eligibility and availability.

Through Rakyat Digital’s Awareness, Access and Adoption approach, MyDIGITAL Corporation is building a national digital learning ecosystem that helps Malaysians move from understanding digital technologies and AI to applying them in their studies, careers and businesses.

Digital Transformation and AI Courses Lead Learner Demand

Early results show strong engagement, with 12,900 learners enrolling in 43,000 courses in the first three weeks, particularly across Selangor, W.P. Kuala Lumpur, Johor, Pulau Pinang and Perak. The most popular course is Understanding Digital Transformation, a custom course created by MyDIGITAL Corporation using Coursera’s Course Builder.

Designed for beginners, the approximately two-hour course introduces the technologies shaping Malaysia’s digital economy, including cloud computing, modern data centres, AI and machine learning, blockchain, IoT and 5G.

Other popular courses include Google’s AI Fundamentals, Foundations: Data, Data, Everywhere and Foundations of Project Management, reflecting demand for practical, job-relevant skills.
