The bustling Ramadan bazaars across Malaysia provide the opportunity for Muslims and non-Muslims locally and internationally to buy dishes for their Iftar (breaking of fast) or dinner meal. Despite the afternoon heat and the fasting hours, both sellers and buyers looked cheerful, embodying the spirit of Ramadan. Since the first day of Ramadan, many people has flocking to their favourite bazaars.
In my walkabouts around Putrajaya's Presint 3 Ramadan Bazaar, it's very big area and clean, and the prices are resonably competitive. I saw a lively crowd busy inspecting the variety of mouthwatering foods and thirst-quenching drinks and comparing the prices offered by the 290 stalls managed by customer friendly sellers. The buyers bringing reusable bags, showing increase environmental awareness.
I noticed one of the market's most popular stalls, which at this point is a Putrajaya Bazaar staple, serving humongous squid with fried noodles. This Ramadan bazaar also has the usuals: ayam panggang, sup tulang, popiah basah, and stall after stall of very appealing cold drinks. My favourite ‘Veteran ATM’ stall No.2 selling roasted lemang with beef & chicken rendang ably managed by KOVETJAYA (Koperasi Veteran ATM Putrajaya Berhad). Lemang is a Minangkabau traditional food made from glutinous rice, coconut milk and salt.
The Cyberjaya Ramadan Bazaar occupying the parking lot within close vicinity of TSI Sports Arena Cyberjaya is not lacking either. Eventhough it isn't huge like in Putrajaya, they have all the classics such as nasi beiyani, nasi lemak, roti john, and more. Since it's a crowded area flocked by the international IT savvy professionals & university community that tends to get congested in the evening.
I love good delicious indigenous traditional foodies and I can get easily spoilt for choice with rows and rows of nice dishes offered by the well trained marketing sellers who are smart conversationists. For self-discipline, Grab makes Ramadan favourites conveniently accessible through curated Iftar menus. Alternatively, all mosques in Putrajaya and Cyberjaya offer free meals to anyone who wishes to break fast there, making it a wonderful opportunity to meet locals even international people and to share stories and experiences.
