Muslims acknowledge the significanc of the occasion and the blessings of Ramadan. We always greet each other and say “Ramadan Mubarak” (Blessed Ramadan) or “Ramadan Kareem” (Generous Ramadan) to convey our good wishes for the holy month. So the fast is broken at the end of the day with prayer & dining a festive meal called an Iftar with our family, relatives, colleagues & friends.

My eldest son, Farouq and his wife, Nadja and their son, Daniel invited my wife, Zarina & I for Iffar with some staff of Stealth Studio at a lovely & authentic Japanese restaurant, Furu in Tamarind Square Cyberjaya. We shared the delicious meal, exchanged stories about our meaningful way connecting with Allah through performing Tarawih prayers together at the mosques & with our family members.

Many young staff of Stealth Studio are bachelors staying in Putrajaya but their parents are outstations. So, the most important practice during Ramadan is to prioritise spending time with colleagues and those married staff spending time with family and their loved ones. Whether it's through prayer or simply sharing meal together, connecting with family members & strengthen their community bonds.

Thinking about childhood times during Ramadan brings back the nostalgia of our imagination, zeal and creativity of making the games we used to play in yester years! As my wife and I mature as grandparents, we cannot help but reflect fondly on the kind of games that we used to play when we were growing up in the kampungs, in our small towns, in school or in open space within the neighbourhood.

I revealed to Farouq and his staff that back then, life in kampungs or our little towns were so simplistic - no one saw colour or creed - we were just friends, neighbours or village kids. We could run around the entire neighbourhood without a care in the world, we could play alone or play as a team without the issue of race or religion creeping. It was all taken in stride, competing to win a game or two.
