According to Ian Rapoport, the Los Angeles Rams are now finalising a blockbuster trade for Myles Garrett, sending Jared Verse, a 2027 first-round pick and more compensation to Cleveland in a stunning swing.

He leaves Cleveland with one of the strongest defensive résumés in Browns history. The 30-year-old became a seven-time Pro Bowler, five-time All-Pro and two-time Defensive Player of the Year.

Garrett also finished first in sacks since entering the league and set the single-season record with 23. For a franchise whose defense was built around his dominance, this is an era-ending move.

The deal gives Los Angeles the reigning Defensive Player of the Year and the reigning Most Valuable Player, Matthew Stafford, on the same roster, turning an already aggressive contender into an even heavier Super Bowl threat.

Garrett, 30, is not a future projection. He has posted at least 14 sacks in each of the last five seasons, combining rare power with a consistency Cleveland may struggle to replace.

That is why the return matters. Verse gives the Browns a younger edge rusher who won Defensive Rookie of the Year in 2024 and made another Pro Bowl after a strong second season.

Verse recorded 7.5 sacks, 27 quarterback hits and three forced fumbles last season, giving Cleveland an immediate building block rather than only draft capital.

For Cleveland, the trade resets its defensive timeline. For Los Angeles, it is another all-in statement, adding the league’s most destructive pass rusher to a roster built for now.
