Kota Kinabalu: Planning for the proposed Ranau Replacement Hospital is progressing through close cooperation between the Sabah Health Department (JKNS) and the State Government, marking another step towards improving healthcare services for residents in the district.
Sabah Health Director Datuk Dr William Gotulis said the project is among JKNS’ strategic priorities to strengthen healthcare capacity in Ranau and meet growing demand for medical services.
He said the new hospital would provide more modern, comfortable and comprehensive facilities, with greater capacity to accommodate increasing patient numbers while easing congestion at the existing Ranau Hospital.
“It will not only improve the wellbeing of the people but also strengthen the public healthcare system in rural and interior areas, in line with the commitment of the State and Federal Governments to ensure all Malaysians have access to quality healthcare facilities,” he said during a courtesy call on Deputy Chief Minister II Datuk Seri Panglima Masidi Manjun recently.
During the meeting, Masidi, who is also the State Finance Minister, was briefed on the latest progress of the project, including its planning status and the proposed site for the replacement hospital.
He welcomed the project, describing it as an important initiative that would enhance healthcare services in Ranau and benefit residents in the district and surrounding areas.
Masidi, who is also Karanaan Assemblyman, said the new hospital was expected to spur development in the surrounding area through improved infrastructure, job creation and increased economic activity.
He also expressed appreciation to the Ministry of Health and JKNS for their continued commitment to the project and expressed hope that construction would proceed according to schedule for the benefit of the people of Ranau.
