RANAU: A 36-year-old local man was sentenced to eight months in jail for threatening his wife during a domestic dispute in Kampung Lipoi.
Johjian Yamun was convicted under Section 506 of the Penal Code after threatening his wife, Erra Yami, 35, with violence and death following accusations of infidelity.
The sentence took effect on July 29, 2026.
The incident happened at about 8.24pm on July 16 at a residence in Kampung Lipoi. Johjian accused his wife of having an affair with a coworker named “Adi” at a retail store in Kampung Lasing.
Police later found that no such person worked there.
During the dispute, Johjian demanded a divorce and threatened to harm his wife and her family if she returned home or tried to see their three children.
Fearing for her safety, Erra lodged a police report on July 17. Police arrested Johjian at about 5pm the same day in Kampung Lipoi.
The case was heard on July 29, when the court sentenced Johjian to eight months’ imprisonment for criminal intimidation.
