Ranau road, bridge projects are underway

RANAU: Deputy Chief Minister II, Datuk Seri Dr Joachim Gunsalam, assured residents here of infrastructure development.

He was referring to two projects, namely the Terawas-Malinsau-Kaingaran Road Upgrading Project and the Road Construction Project to Sejahtera Mini Estate (Message) Mansalu Ranau, Phase II.

A briefing was delivered by the District Works Department (JKR) Engineer, Erwana Farhanah, which was held at Dewan Kampung Meridi, Kaingaran, recently.

As for the road upgrading project, it involves a length of 39,515km of two-lane, one-way roads with R2 JKR standard design. The project starts from Kg Terawas and across several villages and ends at Kg Kaingaran. The duration of the project is 36 months.

Read more Seventeen villages would benefit from the construction of this road which include Kg Timbua, Merungin 1, Merungin 2, Pinampadan, Tumbalang, Kepuakan, Mokodou, Malinsau, Mempakot, Mengkapoh, Wayan, Sinurai, Tinaum, Meridi and Kg Pinupudan.

He said the scope of work that will result from this project is the construction of culverts across rivers, creeks and streams. In addition, slope cutting, reclamation, rehabilitation and slope protection works will also be implemented.

Accordingly, as a result of the upgrade there would also be several bridges that will be built, namely two 40m long bridges, two 75m long bridges and one 30m long bridge.

The road construction project to Mesej Mansalu Ranau (Phase II) involves a distance of 70,540km.

A total of seven villages are involved, starting from Kg Singgaron Baru, Kg Langsat, Kg Kirokot, Kg Koboi Timbua and Kg Kawi.

The Kundasang Assemblyman hoped the residents here will cooperate with the developers involved.

Meanwhile, Ranau District Officer, Jumain Abdul Ghani, is thankful that after waiting for seven years they got a new road.

“Complaints from the residents of Ulu Sugut have finally been answered,” he said, adding that he hoped the local residents would cooperate fully to ensure that the implementation of the project went smoothly.

Meanwhile, the handing over ceremony of the keys, under the Basmi Miskin Tegar (BMT) programme, to three beneficiaries from Kg Kaingaran Ranau was also held at the event.
