
Kota Kinabalu: The 45-year-old odd job worker, who was charged with raping his underage granddaughter in Ranau, will go on trial in July this year.
Sessions Court Judge Amir Shah Amir Hassan fixed July 22 and 23 for the accused’s trial.
He was accused of committing the crime against the seven-year-old girl in a hut at a rubber plantation at 2pm in Nov 2022.
He had on Nov 16, 2023 claimed trial to the charge under Section 376 (3) of the Penal Code.

The court also set Feb 15 for pre-trial case management.
Deputy Public Prosecutor Atiqa Nazihah Azmi prosecuted while the accused was not represented.
The accused was ordered to be further remanded.
Meanwhile, a man was fined RM3,900 or 13 months in jail by the Magistrate’s Court for having syabu.
Farrez Megawan pleaded guilty before Magistrate Stephanie Sherron Abbie to committing the offence, here, last year.
He was charged under Section 12 (2) of the Dangerous Drug Act 1952, which provides for a fine of up to RM100,000 or up to five years jail or both, on conviction.
