Sir Jim Ratcliffe will be buying into Manchester United with his fortune.
Bloomberg says Ratcliffe has assured shareholders of his company, INEOS, that he will be personally bankrolling the deal to buy 25 per cent in the club.
It is claimed creditors at INEOS were told this by executives at INEOS Quattro.
While Ratcliffe's move for United is seen as a 'private project', INEOS powerbrokers Andy Currie and John Reece are expected to be involved - just as they are with the Mercedes F1 team.
The deal for Ratcliffe is expected to be settled with United's board before Christmas.
