Union minister and senior BJP leader Ravneet Bittu on Tuesday warned police officials misusing their authority against BJP workers that they would face stringent action, including compulsory retirement, when the BJP comes to power in Punjab.
Speaking to media at the BJP state headquarters in Chandigarh, Bittu said the party had prepared a list of police officers — from all ranks — found to be involved in drug smuggling, gangsterism, or registering false cases against political opponents. “These cops are working at the behest of the AAP government and I warn them that they would face action," he said.
Bittu was in Chandigarh to preside over the joining of leaders and workers from various parties, including the Shiromani Akali Dal, Congress, and AAP, into the BJP fold in Budhlada.
